A new mockumentary that looks at the exciting world of local government. Examines the mundane but necessary ways that people interact with their government, and asks why it's frequently so complicated - standing in line at the DMV, applying for home construction permits, or trying to get the city to fix a pothole.
DVD, anamorphic widescreen (1.78:1); Dolby Digital 5.1 surround, single-sided.

Awkward submitted by fdaudi on June 15, 2012, 2:09pm The first season of Parks and Recreation was probably the most awkward and weird set of episodes I have seen. It is better if you watch it straight through and focus on Aziz Ansari, for me it was the only way I got through the season. As everyone who has watched later seasons it does get better. So, get through the first season and it all gets better.

Worth It. Stick With It. submitted by Sara W on June 29, 2012, 9:42pm The second season is so funny, it makes the first season absolutely worth it. Watch it, deal with the awkwardness, and have faith that the characters will come beautifully into their own the INSTANT the second season starts. Trust.

good and then great submitted by airgood on August 4, 2014, 1:03pm Season 1 is pretty funny, but the style is definitely a little rough. It just gets funnier each season! The series gets really great when Chris and Ben are introduced. Great characters (including an inspiring female lead!), hilarious spoofs of local government, and fun plot lines every episode.

Best series submitted by CatalinaJohnson on August 12, 2015, 12:26pm Its a great mix of comedy, small town humor, government and business issues, romance and drama. Love it, great lines all through out the series!

rough start submitted by camelsamba on August 26, 2016, 8:17pm When my youngest son started watching Parks & Rec via Netflix on the kitchen computer, I was not impressed. Everyone is so mean to one another! But as the series progresses, strong relationships and friendships develop. As the other reviewers have said, this first season is rather rough - but stick it out and you'll understand why the show was so popular.

Better every time submitted by wellscai on August 25, 2017, 2:56pm I didn't appreciate the first season as much when it came out, but it's grown on me. I always suggest people start with season 2 and then go back to season 1, because it really is one of the best TV shows ever!

Love this series submitted by gardenfaerie on August 30, 2017, 6:26pm The relationships and all the characters are wonderful.

Worth pushing through submitted by ajstemp on June 28, 2018, 12:45pm Although season one has its awkward moments, it's worth pushing through to get to season two (or watching after you've watched previous seasons). It helps set up the characters well, but it's definitely not a must-watch.

Best show ever submitted by thegretch on July 20, 2018, 9:38am This season has some bumps in it but is totally worth watching. The characters are great.

Skip to season 3 submitted by Josephin2.718 on August 11, 2018, 8:25am The first two seasons are hard to watch. I think they were still figuring out their audience and characters, as well as a good storyline. I watched it just cause I started becoming a fan later and wanted to see how it started.

Definitely don't watch the first season with friends you're trying to convert to fans.

If you can get past this season... submitted by amk08 on August 13, 2018, 2:14pm You won’t regret it!! Season one is the worst of this series. The rest is wonderful!! One of my favorite shows!

A subpar start to one of the best shows submitted by dntanzer on August 21, 2019, 9:52pm When I recommend parks and rec to friends, I always suggest skipping this season and starting with season two. Season one is just okay if not a little bad but season two onwards are hilarious and well worth watching!

Parks and Rec Season 1 submitted by Jawadb on June 29, 2020, 7:31pm Hilarious show, great watch

good intro submitted by umich.reader on June 18, 2022, 6:30pm Good show, but not the best season.

Just start with season 2 submitted by gf94 on June 24, 2022, 4:42pm Trust me, just skip this season and start with season 2. You don’t need any of the context to jump ahead.

not that good submitted by aayushis on July 31, 2023, 1:20pm looks like a copy of office becomes better from second season
