Disney, reheated submitted by SarahRose on April 16, 2010, 8:20am Rather than tell a new and imaginative story, The Princess and the Frog takes scraps from Disney's past movies and stirs them together. It's cute, in an unoriginal way. There are clearly images and plot devices lifted directly from Cinderella, Peter Pan, The Rescuers, The Emperor's New Groove, and The Little Mermaid. I think perhaps Disney is out of practice with 2D animation and decided to warm over old favorites and hope for the best while putting together this movie.

Mediocre plot, excellent villain submitted by Daniel Saltzman on April 16, 2010, 7:07pm Princess and the Frog is NOT an original story, nor are most of the characters that great. The witch-doctor, on the other hand, is a wonderful, reasonably original villain who also happens to be a great singer.

Review submitted by lsfnewyork on June 18, 2011, 1:02pm The movie- the frog

Mix Disney submitted by nfrassrand on June 23, 2011, 4:30pm This movie is a mixture of other disney movies, and then some. It's a great movie for all ages, and I love it.

Unsure submitted by cinderellariley on June 24, 2011, 11:46am I really liked the music for this movie, but not sure she is princess material.

The Princess and the frog submitted by honordenver on June 26, 2011, 8:01pm This movie is great the voodoo is kind of weird but it is a great movie overall

Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! submitted by TripleH123 on June 26, 2011, 8:27pm Great movie for the whole family!

hasty submitted by Sonia on June 30, 2011, 11:44am I feel like this movie was just thrown together so that there would be a black princess. Definitely not up to par with the other princess movies. I think disney could have done a much better job.

princess and the frog submitted by Pareenaz9 on July 3, 2011, 3:15pm i love this movie!

GOOD MOVIE but... submitted by drewy234432 on July 9, 2011, 7:06pm Overall a ok move but i think that makes should have taken longer to make it. It seems like it was put fast.

BEst disney princess! submitted by LuckyDuck on July 12, 2011, 10:28pm Seems so real and unique!

It SSSSSSSUUUUUUUUKKKKKEEEEEEDDDDDD submitted by jakabe on July 20, 2011, 12:57pm I absolutely HATED this movie. It was pointless, stupid, and freaking evil it deserves a negative 5 star. Do not be intimidated by its stupidness

Classic submitted by derin on August 1, 2011, 2:16pm I liked this movie and it was sooooooo not stupid dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Frog Princess submitted by marisal on August 10, 2011, 1:39pm A little twist on a typicall disney princess movie.

Okay submitted by ColeenT on August 13, 2011, 8:34am I liked the songs they sang

horrible submitted by jszchen on August 23, 2011, 11:14pm this was horrible vodoo and scared the kids

A lovely film submitted by chuntoon on June 25, 2012, 9:32pm The Disney name is hard to live up do, and The Princess and the Frog gives a valiant effort. In some respects it falls short (the songs could be a little longer, some secondary characters a little underdeveloped, etc...). However, at the heart of the movie is a lovely story with endearing characters, great songs, and a fantastic villain.

a little scary submitted by steph10 on June 28, 2012, 2:12pm this movie is kind of scary so if you get scared easily don't watch it, but it has a lot of adventure and is a good movie in all.

Amazing music submitted by andreahubert on July 1, 2012, 10:48am This movie has a great score!

<3 submitted by brielle on July 19, 2012, 9:44pm I love love love this movie. It's semi-based on one of my darling childhood fairy tale retellings, The Frog Princess by E. D. Baker, and while not much of that tale is evident in the movie, it's totes still worth it. I love the jazz soundtrack, the flapper fashion, and the roaring twenties feel. Enjoy!

True Love submitted by Motomori on August 19, 2012, 10:55am This is a movie about true love. I hated it.

I love the music submitted by yingchenjin on June 24, 2013, 12:13pm I love how the music is so fantastic

Fell asleep, more than once submitted by AprilCDB on July 28, 2014, 3:16pm I have never finished watching this movie because I keep falling asleep while watching it. Great for insomnia I guess.

bad! submitted by 3rdwitch on August 21, 2014, 6:50pm I don't like princesses

Great submitted by kzheng on June 17, 2015, 6:23pm It was one of the few movies where the princess has some spunk

Okay submitted by tomiwa on June 24, 2015, 2:00pm I liked this movie, but it was a bit excessive in the song department. When you're a little older you can only handle so much Disney music.

A favorite submitted by skaugset on June 22, 2016, 9:03am This was one of my favorite movies. I really liked it. It is pretty fun. I like the fight near the start. - Tommy, age 5

twist on typical submitted by carolinepbg on August 3, 2016, 4:43pm A twist on the typical princess movie but not riveting.

Disney's first black princess submitted by purchasingqueen on August 31, 2016, 9:47pm Finally, a black princess! Good story and music.

A New Disney Princess submitted by Meginator on July 7, 2017, 2:29pm I enjoyed Disney's return to its classical animation style in this film, and I think that "The Princess and the Frog" offers a number of nice modern twists on the traditional Disney princess story. The characters, especially the women, are fully fleshed out and the story has more twists and turns than you might expect, while adhering to the typical story arc(s) you expect from this type of film. The music and animation, particularly the palette, give this film a distinct auditory and visual feeling and capture the spirit of New Orleans in the 1920s as well as could be hoped for from such a corporate endeavor. I don't understand much of the negative reception for this movie, as I think that it builds nicely on Disney's traditions while remaining unique and modern. I hope that Disney continues in this vein, and offers us similar stories (and more princesses/main characters of color) in the future.

The Princess and the Frog submitted by SBNB on August 24, 2017, 10:18am This is a nice Disney princess movie. My preschooler loved it.

The Princess and The Frog submitted by avrogers1 on July 17, 2018, 12:42am This is a wonderful animated Disney film! The animations is phenomenal and the musical score is amazing! My favorite character was the alligator who likes to play jazz!

2 of 5 stars submitted by cullerth on August 11, 2018, 8:18pm I was excited for this movie because of its return to hand drawn animation and the debut of the first black Disney princess, but the story line fell flat for me. Nothing truly unique like what I've come to expect from Disney.

Wonderful submitted by majean on August 17, 2018, 11:49am A lovely take on this classic tale. Great music, too.

Pretty good submitted by c_zhang on June 29, 2019, 12:21am This movie is a mixture of other Disney movies, and then some. It's a great movie for all ages, but a bit unoriginal.

The Princess and the Frog submitted by lstorc on July 8, 2019, 9:33am The systemic racism is obvious. The animation and singing are traditional Disney.

Good movie! submitted by Xris on July 22, 2019, 11:17pm I like that more people are represented in this Disney film! A princess of color, yes!! And a princess who can do for herself, without much help from anyone. Plus the music is great!

Standard Disney movie submitted by gxtan on July 29, 2019, 12:07pm Enjoyable retelling/take on the frog prince fairy tale, even if the plot is mostly predictable. Songs and characters were good, and I liked the setting and message of the movie. Nothing spectacular, but not bad either.

Spunky! submitted by gem on August 10, 2019, 11:10am The Girl is spunky! There was a lot of adventure and singing. I didn't like the scary parts. Happy ending that took a while to get there.

Best princess movie submitted by Bethybeth07 on July 31, 2022, 11:26am My daughter loves this movie! Tiana is a great role model, and has her priorities straight.

Wonderful movie submitted by Mel Ruiz on July 31, 2022, 8:20pm The magic that was placed in this movie involved the good and bad. One thing is for sure - the love from Raymond to his Evangeline was deep and touching. Sad when he died, but happy end when they were together.

Couldn’t get into it submitted by courtneyhooper on August 23, 2022, 10:45pm Don’t know why!

great submitted by cathydobbins on June 9, 2023, 10:57am I have enjoyed this movie most of my life and will continue to rewatch.

Solid film, though not Disney's best submitted by kaymbre on July 16, 2023, 7:57am "Princess and the Frog" is a good addition to the Disney animated film repertoire, albeit not reaching the heights of greatness achieved by some of its predecessors. The movie manages to capture the essence of Disney's charm and offers a refreshing take on the classic fairy tale formula. The animation is visually pleasing, showcasing the vibrant setting of New Orleans with intricate details. The characters are likable and relatable, with Tiana standing out as a strong and determined protagonist. The music, while enjoyable, doesn't quite reach the iconic status of other Disney musicals, but still adds a catchy and toe-tapping element to the story. The film strikes a decent balance between humor, heart, and adventure, making it an entertaining watch for both children and adults. While it may not achieve greatness, "Princess and the Frog" manages to deliver a solid and enjoyable experience overall.
