Funny and a bit weird submitted by Henrike Florusbosch on August 14, 2015, 7:34am This is an older (written in 1963) book, which feels very contemporary because of the clear and funny writing. The author weaves back and forth between different girls living in a London "girl's hotel" for "girls of slender means" (who don't have much money) right after World War II. The girls have come to London to work in various jobs, and one gets a really good sense of the strange "interim" period of the immediate post-war time. Most interesting, I found, was the writing style, which switches perspective and jumps a bit back and forth in time in the midst of chapters. It's funny, too, and I never saw the end coming!
