Culminating Achievement
It's a shame to say it to the detriment of their other work (much of which is outstanding), but to me this is by far Over the Rhine's best album. Perhaps it helps that I'm originally an Ohio boy. Moody doesn't begin to describe the path taken by this inertia-laden steam train of emotion.
Listening suggestions: humid July or August evening. One of your nicer bottles of wine. Heaping servings of nostalgia. Oh, and if you have a remote, pause the discs halfway through, think yourself over to the record player and flipping the vinyl, then hit play again.
