COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Great intro to Klezmer submitted by dumusicgirl on August 2, 2013, 12:19pm I have loved Klezmer music my entire life and am familiar with many of the artists on this album but I think this would be a great introduction to someone who might not have heard this type of music before.

Surprising Variety! submitted by Meginator on July 8, 2023, 10:02pm Klezmer may seem like an old style of music set in stone, but the artists on this compilation prove that both that it is alive and well and that it blends nicely with several other genres, some less expected than others. Most of these tracks boast large and varied ensembles, often spotlighting instruments that don’t feature prominently in most modern music (such as the clarinet), and the music is full of life and emotion at every turn. The tracks all share some common elements in their structure, but there’s a lot more to modern klezmer music than the stereotypical expectations would have you believe. I recommend this for anyone who is interested in folk music or in large instrumental music ensembles with different instrumentation than the standard orchestral lineup.
