During World War II, a group of Jewish-American guerrilla soldiers, led by Lt. Aldo Raine, become known as "The Basterds." They are chosen specifically to spread fear throughout the Third Reich by scalping and brutally killing Nazis. The Basterds soon cross paths with a French-Jewish woman who runs a movie theater in Paris which is targeted by the soldiers. A plot is set in motion to kill the Nazis at the theater's movie premier, including Adolph Hitler.

Great movie submitted by Ilyjtwya on June 21, 2012, 6:47pm Perhaps I don't take movies as seriously as previous reviewers (for the regular DVD), but I found no flaw in this movie. It has an interesting premise and the freedom of historical to fiction to deviate from the real events. I enjoyed the pace and the characters. It did not unfold as I expected it but even with the events that I was not happy to see (what happened in certain situations), I was very satisfied with the movie, the surprises and the ending.

Wow submitted by RebeccaWittekindt on July 29, 2023, 12:02pm An absolutely incredible film. The entire movie is amazing, but the first scene is like a masterclass in tension. I’ve hoped actors get nominated plenty of times, but I’ve never wanted an actor to win an Oscar so much as Christoph Waltz in this. And of course he did!
