Missile gap -- Rogue farm -- A colder war -- MAXOS -- Down on the farm -- Unwirer (with Cory Doctorow) -- Snowball's chance -- Trunk and disorderly -- Palimpsest.
In this collection of short stories, novelist Stross moves the U.S.-U.S.S.R. conflict onto a massive disk in another galaxy in "Missile Gap," offers a spam-filter solution to the Fermi paradox in "MAXOS," suggests clever bargains with the devil in a newly frozen Scotland in "Snowball's Chance," and sets the stage for appearances by Carl Sagan and Stephen Jay Gould in "The Colder War."

Short science fiction stories submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on August 23, 2012, 3:11pm If you've enjoyed Charles Stross' other books (and I do) and you like short stories, then I can recommend "Wireless." However, if you like longer tales or don't like science fiction/fantasy, this is not the book for you.
Good, but personally I like longer writings

All right, I'm trying here. I'm just not a fan of short stories, but do like this author and my husband recommended this book.
Actually, in the introduction, Stross describes the history of short stories in general, short stories in science fiction in particular, and discusses WHY an author might write a short story instead of a novel. It gave me new perspective, and I tried to read these with his insights in mind.
It helped.
But I still just like novels better.
