Delivers on Expectations submitted by Meginator on June 28, 2023, 11:09pm Despite arriving quite late in the band’s career, this album delivers the straightforward, crowd-pleasing hard rock that KISS is known for and it is remarkably consistent in quality even though it lacks a standout hit. It feels like the band is almost on autopilot here, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing given that they know how to create songs that get the job done, taking on some distinct influences from AC/DC and adding in a few guitar solos for good measure. The lyrics are, well, KISS lyrics, and the hard-partying lifestyle they evoke fits in well with the band’s image even if some of the lines are…questionable. Overall, there’s something to be said for delivering on expectations, and in that regard KISS absolutely hits the mark here.
