So-So in a Crowded Subgenre submitted by Meginator on July 31, 2019, 11:38pm This film hits all of the requisite beats to be expected from a holiday romantic comedy, but I found myself turned off by the juvenile humor that predominated one of the four Christmas celebrations. The story has plenty of holiday cheer at its core, and Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn proved to be a more convincing couple than I thought they would be, but I felt like the film missed a lot of opportunities to break free from the standard-issue mold and I never became fully invested in the characters. It’s perfectly serviceable for what it is, and I’ve seen worse in the genre, but it’s neither genuinely excellent nor so bad it’s good (not a negative thing at all in this genre). With so many better options out there, I don’t think I’ll feel compelled to revisit this one.

Skip this one submitted by purchasingqueen on August 13, 2019, 1:28pm This is an only mildy funny, predictable holiday movie. There are much better ones available. So, skip this one and opt for a classic like A Christmas Story instead.
