Not as good as other little blue truck books. submitted by rea2mill on July 5, 2022, 12:13am There’s a lot of bullying by the city trucks in this book. Eventually we all have to discuss issues of bullying with kids, sure, but I feel like the target age range for most Little Blue Truck books is a bit on the young side for that.
Empowering the Little Guy submitted by robinpollak on August 4, 2022, 7:45pm This book is a story about a small pick-up truck from a rural area who comes to a busy city where it encounters a traffic jam due to a mayor's motorcade. Many of the larger trucks are disgruntled and rude, but the small pickup truck helps everyone realize that patience and kindness (and following traffic laws?) will resolve the tangle more efficiently. In this story the mayor helps the little truck get attention for its message. There is an optimistic and encouraging lesson in here somewhere about advocacy, and I think the intention is to communicate that leaders can rise from unexpected places. There are a variety of pieces to unpack with kids on repeated readings, and the rhymes and rhythm make it fun to read aloud.
