Christmas in Detroit submitted by Meginator on August 21, 2021, 8:23am This compilation of Motown’s finest performing original and traditional holiday songs is excellent from start to finish, with a lot of variety within the typical Motown style, and it’s no accident that several of these tracks have become indispensable staples of the holiday season. The interspersed greetings from the label’s artists add a nice personal touch, and something about the music’s soulful roots feels perfectly suited for the lyrics, imbuing them with a refreshing sense of honesty that’s missing from a lot of other renditions. All told, this album is perfect for repeated plays throughout the season.
