Mild humor submitted by rimpopu on July 15, 2013, 9:38pm We love Strega Nona books so we were looking forward to another fun filled book but were slightly disappointed. It is good but not as good as Strega Nona (which is about the pasta pot and is our favorite), Strega Nona's magic lessons, or even Strega Nona her story. In this story, Bambolona and Big Anthony help Strega Nona (meaning grandma witch) in her garden. He spies Strega Nona singing her magic to make the garden grow. He decides to plant his own perfect garden behind the goat shed and show Bambolona that he is smarter. Except he gets a big carried away with the magic. The result is the usual Big Anthony goof up. I expected a lot of humor as in Strega Nona book about the pasta pot but it turned out quite mild. Also, in other books Strega Nona seems to know what Big Anthony is up to. But here she is shown as having no idea which I thought was out of character. The ending is left open which could make a good discussion topic for children if they are so inclined. However this book is our least favorite of Strega Nona books. My pet peeve with all Strega Nona books is that there is no glossary of pronunciation at the end of the book. As a non-italian speaker I feel uncomfortable pronouncing words incorrectly in front of young learners.

Garden fun submitted by jackson.sarah.jean on November 2, 2015, 9:55am If you want a book that talks about gardening and the process this is a pretty good book. It's fun to see what keeps happening after Strega Nona has already harvested.

Strega Nona's Harvest submitted by SBNB on July 2, 2017, 9:46pm We enjoyed this one. Big Anthony’s garden grows out of control and he has to do something about it.
