COMMUNITY REVIEWS

2nd in a series submitted by camelsamba on July 17, 2015, 3:52pm I had figured out one of the main conspirators, and knew what the final worrisome event was going to be. However, I did not figure out all the details of the mystery or everyone involved. And even now, it seems a little far-fetched. Given his ambitions, he had so much to lose! But hey, what do I know about the criminal mind?

Anyway, I enjoyed this mystery. To be honest, the recipes at the end are not that appealing to me (except maybe the brownie bites) - not compared to Diane Mott Davidson's books, or even to book 1 in this series. But I'm not reading this as a cookbook, just as a mystery with a culinary theme.

Two important points contributing to why I liked this book: The food / kitchen / staff were more integral to the mystery in this one, which strengthens the integration in my opinion. I also like how Special Agent Gavin pointed out why Ollie seems to get herself embroiled in these kinds of events - she has good powers of observation, a sixth sense as it were.
