"Whatever happened to the World of Tomorrow? , the long-awaited follow-up to Mom's Cancer, tells the story of a boy's relationship with his father. Spanning the period from the 1939 World's Fair to the last Apollo space mission in 1975, it depicts an optimistic and ambitious era fueled by industry, engines, electricity, rockets, middle-class pop culture, and the atom bomb...A lively trip through a half century of technological evolution, Whatever Happened to the World of Tomorrow? is also a perceptive look at the changing moods of our nation - and the enduring promise of the future." - from back cover.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

My First submitted by sara on July 24, 2014, 12:41pm This is the first and only graphic novel I've read, so I don't know how it compares to others, but I enjoyed it. It took me back through my childhood and the imaginations of the future we had. I liked the comic book within the comic book idea- with the comics increasing in price from 10 cents to 25 cents. I liked the inclusion of real photographs. I liked the line (at the end of a list of people who had died) "The Soviet Union died in 1991 of natural causes." And I learned a few things as well. Interesting.
