COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Concert submitted by glennauerbach on June 25, 2011, 7:58pm I wish I could go to an Owl City concert.

Pop Electronica submitted by cherylo on August 2, 2012, 3:54pm This album precedes the well-known hit single from Owl City/Adam Young, Fireflies. Musically, it reminds me somewhat of Ray Lynch's New Age instrumental works, such as Celestial Soda Pop from the album Deep Breakfast. Not the deepest or most challenging music out there, but a nice break from worries and cares.

Good submitted by tshapla on December 25, 2012, 8:07pm Owl City, You Rock! I really like the CD

Maybe I'm Dreaming submitted by Varshini on July 17, 2019, 10:41pm Owl City's music is relaxing and calming.

Pulses with Positivity submitted by Meginator on August 27, 2020, 6:30pm This debut album is full of the poppy, peppy synths that characterize Owl City’s music, though the instrumentation is much simpler than on later releases. Taken as a whole, the entire sound feels fresh and uniquely Owl City, but the album has little track-to-track innovation and/or development. Each track pulses with positive energy, though Adam Young is clearly still finding his feet and settles too often for repetitive rhythms that recur time and again. The lyrics are alternately as vapid and inspiring as ever, with a playful sensibility that works well against the musical background; the package is integrated and feels of a whole. Despite some repetition and a sense of insecurity, the core elements of Owl City’s trademark style are present here, almost too much so, and this album duly lays the groundwork for the developments and breakthroughs of “Ocean Eyes” and beyond.
