Now that his girlfriend has left him, professional wizard Harry Dresden can't pay his rent and alienates his friends. He's soon approached by the Winter Queen of Faerie with an offer he can't refuse--all he has to do is find out who murdered the Summer Queen's right-hand man, the Summer Knight, and clear the Winter Queen's name. Soon, Harry finds out that the fate of the entire world rests on his solving this case.

Love Harry Dresden submitted by ark on July 27, 2013, 11:26am This might be my favorite of the Dresden Files so far--it's a tie between the first book, Storm Front, and this one. The characterization of the supplemental characters was spot on, and I really enjoyed learning more about the Faerie part of the Nevernever. Awesome series!

It's the gritty urban fantasy version of a beach read. Who knew there was such a thing?!? :-)

Good book! submitted by Edigaet1 on June 21, 2020, 7:14pm This is definitely one of my favorite Dresden Files books. Each book helps to add more depth to the series (as it should), and this one is such a good intro into what becomes very important later on in the series.

Fun series submitted by pamhockey25 on July 5, 2021, 12:08pm I was told the series gets better, and I think this is where it starts improving - and it's been pretty good already. This is book four of the Dresden Files, and takes place after the end of Grave Peril. Here Harry takes on the Faeries--of course with the help of Bob and Murphy, and his other friends. I love the character development and will continue reading the series to see what happens!
