loved it submitted by ark on June 28, 2011, 10:27am Tropper is a wonderful contemporary writer; I love his style and the first-person voice he gives to the narrator/protagonist of this book. It's a good story about dysfunctional families, dealing with crazy parents and siblings, dealing with divorce and affairs, midlife crises, death, all woven together in a very funny and somehow uplifting tale.
2.5 Stars submitted by sugarmagnolia on July 11, 2011, 1:06pm This is a solid 2.5 stars. The story was interesting/entertaining enough, but by the end the dialogue started looking like a screen play. he didn't even attempt to write like a writer. his editor clearly decided doing his/her job wasn't important. major deductions on poopy effort.
Fun submitted by spomrank on June 16, 2015, 8:40pm This was a quick, fun read that made me laugh out loud and shake my head. Having read it made the movie more interesting too.
Interesting story poorly written submitted by rebecca.perreault on June 19, 2019, 1:26am The book was written to be a movie script, to the point that characters dialogue consisted of the quotation, followed by the name of the speaker. The characters were relatable, and the storyline moved quickly despite the characters gaining little change or insight. I wish that more effort went into the small details, which would have set this book far apart from its contemporaries.
A Mishmash of Humor and Heart

Cheerful wit convenes an intriguing plot in this family drama about the delicate (and not-so-delicate) workings of bonds between relatives. Follow Judd Foxwell as he reconnects with his four siblings in the wake of their father’s demise, confronts painful truths, and utters amusing one-liners.
