Perhaps a script - not a novel
A complete waste of time.
It might have some appeal for someone so enamored of CSI to forgive it's flaws - but my first thought is that this was a script that needed the resources of actors and directors to turn into any kind of palatable entertainment.
The protagonist, "Steve Dark", is a stereotype character - the wounded hero who has forsaken the battle against evil.
The antagonist, "sqweegel" is supposed to be an super-psychopath / assassin - but just comes off as "icky".
The whole effort comes across as 8th effort at a movie or comic book script - without really deciding which it purports to be. "Ick" really captures the feel of the book, like the feeling you had in middle school about cleaning your room or picking up after yourself.
Why did I finish it? I'm recuperating from a cold and there isn't much else in the house.
Thumbs down on this one. But don't bury it in the backyard - it's too toxic.
