Riveting

While I was perhaps the only person ever to have thought The Glass Castle was dull, I absolutely loved Walls' other book, Half-Broke Horses. The heroine, Lily (Walls' grandmother) is a pistol of a woman whose spirit and determination reminded me of my own grandmother who grew up around the same time period. Once this story got going, it was difficult to put it down.

A Wonderful Story

I'd been putting off this book (even though I loved Jeannette Wall's The Glass Castle) I think because it's listed as fiction. Well, I finally picked it up and couldn't put it down. It also inspired me to read The Glass Castle again (for the fourth time!)

Without women like Lily the story of American would be dull
