Belly spends the summer she turns sixteen at the beach just like every other summer of her life, but this time things are very different.

not the best, not the worst values submitted by 21621031390949 on June 28, 2011, 12:25pm I pre-read this book to determine whether to give it to my 13 yr old daughter. Decided I would, but would plan to discuss some of the values portrayed with her as she read it. She ended up deciding *not* to read it (not sure why)
It's a coming of age story of a mid-teen girl that revolves around her desire for romance with a lifelong boy friend and/or his brother and/or a new boy she meets at the beach. She's a reasonably straight-arrow girl: doesn't drink at a summer beach party where other underage kids are drinking, doesn't do drugs although her mother and friend's mother smoke pot. However, she does swim at night alone (not something I want my kids doing) and in the end, she sneaks out of her parents' house at night to be with her boyfriend. didn't like that aspect of the ending at all; however, it would probably appeal to teens.

Love submitted by LuckyDuck on July 12, 2011, 9:29pm Young Romance, great teen book

GReat submitted by unknown on June 22, 2015, 2:11pm such a great book

Not great submitted by zmclaugh on July 27, 2018, 11:30am Pretty cliche characters and a main character who's a little annoying and hard to connect to. I don't recommend unless you want to read about some drama.

Summer Fun submitted by 17661 on June 27, 2022, 9:16am I read this book in anticipation of the Amazon Prime Series coming out. It's intensely YA- that is to say, teen angst, love triangles, growing pains, etc. Of course, our main character Belly makes mistakes and isn't perfect- she's a kid. Still, it's compulsively readable. The chapters are short and the story, though not particularly urgent, is still fun. In my opinion, this series gets better as it goes along. Overall, would recommend if you're looking for something easy and dramatic to read in an afternoon. The show is also adorable and has tons of cute easter eggs to the book!

Fun submitted by Stinglikeawalrus on July 3, 2022, 2:44am Very easy to read, but still quite enjoyable. It's cute and comforting and easy to read in a day or so. It's definitely cliche at times, but the characters are all interesting and the relationships the main character has both with her friends and her family are really heartwarming. Good coming of age story. Team Conrad.

Great book- New tv show! submitted by ahlalejini on July 10, 2022, 8:59pm This is the book the new Amazon Prime show is based on. It's excellent and a great summer read for teens!

Fun and Easy submitted by ilikedolphins on July 18, 2022, 2:51am Very enjoyable read. Finished it in one day. Definitely recommend.

10/10 submitted by NC on June 15, 2023, 4:29pm amazing book! highly recommend

Confusing but painfully simple submitted by Tess332 on July 1, 2023, 12:19am I did not enjoy this book, the characters lacked emotion and many of them felt very silly. References were plugged in for what the author probably liked as a teen versus anything relatable. Very confusing to follow the age of the main character despite noted in the chapter title.

Enjoyable cliche submitted by pratibhamahesh on July 14, 2023, 11:08pm Characters are silly but enjoyable. Story is predictable but fun! They even made a show on Amazon Prime

I like this book submitted by blondi on July 28, 2023, 8:36pm I love it
It was really good
It’s kinda silly but it’s good

Great setting submitted by pamhockey25 on August 25, 2023, 12:50pm This is a YA book that highlights how much growing the main character has left to do. It's the first in a series that is streaming on Amazon Prime. There is lots of teen angst as Belly pines after the oldest son at the summer house, Conrad, while keeping his younger brother, Jeremiah in the friend zone. She also starts dating yet another guy. Meanwhile the book changes between past and present from chapter to chapter which tended to be confusing. One minute her best friend is there, then because of the time jumping she's gone, then back as the story picks back up in the past. The brothers are dealing with the possible death of their mother, while Belly is oblivious to what is happening. I will finish the series to see what happens.
