Passable Twist on a Classic submitted by Meginator on July 6, 2020, 6:13pm This is a fairly straightforward version of the traditional Christmas carol story that focuses instead on a pop diva played to perfection by Vanessa Williams. The story plays out as expected, with an excellent variation on the Ghost of Christmas Future and a deliciously catchy pop song from Scrooge’s past, but the film doesn’t make the most effective use out of its few original tweaks, including an under-developed side character whose story isn’t resolved with any satisfaction. This made-for-tv film is fine as a lively twist on a familiar classic, but it doesn’t quite live up to its potential despite an excellent performance from the lead actress.
