In Old school ties, Lewis comes face to face with his past when the murder of bright young Jo Gilchrist pulls Lewis and Hathaway into a case driven by celebrity, scheming, and dangerous sexual politics. In Expiation, when a North Oxford housewife is found hanged, it appears to be an open and shut case of suicide. But the lack of a suicide note and the victim's seemingly perfect life leads Lewis to suspect foul play.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

A great return to Oxford submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on August 27, 2012, 10:43am In a spin-off from the very popular "Inspector Morse" mystery series, Morse' sergeant is now a full detective. A drunk driver killed Lewis' wife in a hit-and-run. His children are grown, so he took a post in the Carribean and has just returned to work as a detective in Oxford. He's at loose ends, though, and doesn't know how to care for himself or what to do with his grief.

Those who enjoyed the Morse series will enjoy Lewis as well, although seeing the earlier series will make it easier to understand this later one. As a student at Oxford (albeit only for one semester), I loved seeing all the places on campus in the background of this TV series.
