Series pilot: Home from a two-year assignment in the British Virgin Islands, Inspector Robert Lewis is back in familiar territory Oxford, England five years after the death of his long-time partner, the legendary Inspector Morse. Teamed up with the much younger Detective Sergeant James Hathaway, Lewis barely makes it out of the airport before falling into his first murder investigation. But even if Lewis solves the case, will that be enough to change his new boss' plans to move him from the front lines to a training assignment?
In Whom the gods would destroy, Detectives Lewis and Hathaway are thrown into a delicate murder case that implicates one of Oxford University's most prominent figures when an old classmate of his is found dead.
DVD, region 1, anamorphic widescreen (16:9) presentation; Dolby Digital, NTSC.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

A great spin-off from "Inspector Morse" submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on August 27, 2012, 10:41am In a spin-off from the very popular "Inspector Morse" mystery series, Morse' sergeant is now a full detective. A drunk driver killed Lewis' wife in a hit-and-run. His children are grown, so he took a post in the Carribean and has just returned to work as a detective in Oxford. He's at loose ends, though, and doesn't know how to care for himself or what to do with his grief.
Those who enjoyed the Morse series will enjoy Lewis as well, although seeing the earlier series will make it easier to understand this later one. As a student at Oxford (albeit only for one semester), I loved seeing all the places on campus in the background of this TV series.

OK submitted by smgop on August 24, 2015, 7:19pm pilot episode was great - the first episode was creepy.
