Light and fluffy
submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on August 11, 2017, 8:15pm
A light, fluffy enjoyable fantasy about a young (insecure) woman magician going to magic school and getting involved in situations way beyond her confidence level.
Especially having recently read Patrick Rothfuss' _The Name of the Wind_, this felt like it lacked depth. The magic has no depth. The school has no depth. The master magicians had no depth. The conflicts had no depth. It was like reading Sweet Valley High instead of Jane Austen. On the other hand, it would work wonderfully as a fantasy summer-beach read and I'm curious enough about the storyline that I'm reading the sequel. Not at all a bad book, just really light, which might be just what you're looking for.
ETA: It's apparently a "Young Adult" book, and I'd have to say that within that category, it works really well.
