Food Snob Meets Parenting Memoir
submitted by sdunav on August 23, 2011, 10:26am
This is a very enjoyable short memoir about a restaurant critic turned stay-at-home dad who loves to cook. Some of the best parts were his "before kids I knew this about kids and food" and his admissions afterward.
Spoiler: his 4 y.o. is a picky eater. Not as bad as some kids, but Amster-Burton had to change his smug attitude about having a 14 month old who loves enchiladas and Brussel sprouts and deal with a child whose favorite food is plain white rice, who does not like ketchup or spicy food at all.
Interestingly, he writes about several food and parenting authors (and is especially hard on baby food cookbooks), and has lots and lots of recipes. I might even try a few of the recipes, though I'm certain no one here will be as enamored with crispy duck legs as his family is
