The history of the Torchwood team submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on July 27, 2013, 11:46am A spin-off from the BBC series "Doctor Who," "Torchwood" is about an institution created by Queen Victoria to be "outside the government, beyond the police" in order to protect the world and Britain in particular from alien invasion. Capt. Jack Harkness, formerly of "Doctor Who" runs a team of paranormal investigators in Cardiff.

This disc is the last of the regularly-scheduled "Torchwood." After this the series only appears in specials, such as "Children of Earth" and "Miracle Day."

"Adrift" is a very sad episode about a family that lost a son due to the time rift in Cardiff against which Torchwood is supposed to protect the city's residents. Gwen courageously finds the son, years later, and finds out Torchwood secrets to which no one else is privy, but the episode is still sad. In "Fragments," we learn how each team members, except Gwen, came to join Torchwood. Many of the scenes are disturbing, some including torture.

Most of the characters are bisexual, although Harkness (played by the openly gay John Barrowman) is decidedly omnisexual and flirts with everyone. "Torchwood" is very graphic in every sense of the word, and so is not appropriate for anyone under 18. Sci fi fans will love the show.

This disc includes deleted scenes that true fans will not want to miss
