WONDERFUL!! submitted by paully37 on July 18, 2011, 3:48pm My twin 6 y/o boys and I LOVED this! We have read it every night since we checked it out. It is a magical book about a town that had almost no plants growing in it until a young boy decided to tend to a few stragglers. His action lead the town to blossom into a much more lively & pleasant place;)

Get your gloves! submitted by jtmaxwell on August 17, 2011, 6:53pm This book will make kids want to garden! A little boy discovers a garden who just needs to be tended, and once it feels some love it turns an ugly city into a lovely green space. The illustrations are beautiful, the story is light and humorous, and gives a great message that if we take care of our green places, there will be more!

Magical, beautiful book submitted by doctorfang on July 11, 2014, 8:39pm This is a wonderful book that gets better with each reading. My son and I read this book at least 50 times, and I never tired of it. The illustrations are wonderful, with great attention to the passing of time and how it affects the garden. This book will inspire anyone, young or old, to plant a garden.

Beautiful and funny! submitted by scarlettsquill on August 5, 2018, 9:39pm This lovely story is told with beautiful (and sometimes humorous) illustrations. The author manages to keep the story light and joyful well tackling themes of environmentalism and stewardship.

Highly recommend! submitted by unknown on July 13, 2020, 3:49pm My whole family loves this book. The illustrations and the story itself are both so sweet, and the message is such an important one. My son was already interested in gardening, but this book made him feel like gardeners are heroes (they are!).
