Still pursuing a cure for her mother's enchantment, Clary uses all her powers and ingenuity to get into Idris, the forbidden country of the secretive Shadowhunters, and to its capital, the City of Glass, where with the help of a newfound friend, Sebastian, she uncovers important truths about her family's past that will not only help save her mother but all those that she holds most dear.

Not Better submitted by glennauerbach on June 16, 2012, 2:51pm This book was not better than the first or second one, they were a lot more interesting. If you liked the other books, you would like this one, too.

More or Less submitted by xjasx on June 17, 2012, 11:42pm A good book, great information, very interesting, but not as good as I wanted it to be. Of course it was still good though.

Amazing submitted by carina sanborn on June 12, 2015, 12:00pm I didn't want to put this book down. It was so amazing and exciting.

The equivalent of chicklit for fantasy-loving teens submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on August 11, 2017, 8:26pm It's light; it's fun; it's entertaining; it's worth the read.

Sure, I guessed two of the big twists/mysteries almost immediately. Sure, Clary was sometimes annoying. But I think the book was supposed to be a fun, action-filled supernatural adventure, and it did that well. It's the equivalent of chicklit for fantasy-loving teens. And that was enjoyable in my book.

fun YA submitted by KOH on August 13, 2017, 11:01am Pick up this series if you like the typical YA that's currently out there.

A Fun End to the "Triology" submitted by ajstemp on June 27, 2018, 12:14pm City of Glass wraps up the first half of the Mortal Instruments series well. The antagonist is given more depth and becomes less of a black and white character, which is a delight, and the additional character developments and backstories are surprising and fun to read.

Of all the Mortal Instruments books, this one was truthfully my favorite.

City of Glass submitted by c_zhang on June 27, 2019, 10:36pm It's worse than the first and second book, but it was decent. A nice ending to the first half of the series.
