COMMUNITY REVIEWS
Won Over submitted by kathleen824 on July 4, 2012, 5:37pm I must admit I am not a huge fan of Woody Allen. Yet, I was pleasntly surprised with Vicky Christina Barcelona. I was initially drawn to the movie by the cast and thouroughly won over.
Crazy good. submitted by monipate on July 30, 2012, 8:57pm Seriously, crazy. And so enjoyable. Patricia Clarkson is in it too...as if the cast could get better.
Unexpectedly realistic and beautiful submitted by eapearce on April 30, 2015, 4:42pm I'm no blind fan of Woody Allen and judge his films on a case-by-case basis. However, Vicky Cristina Barcelona was a gem. As is typical of his films, the story seems somewhat detached... we never know the characters intimately but simply see them for a period of time and are left to guess how previous choices led them to this point and how the choices we see will affect them later. I loved how the storyline never went in the direction that I expected. When Vicky and Cristina (two friends traveling for the summer in Barcelona) develop feelings for the same man, one would expect their friendship to disintegrate, or at the very least, for competition to ensue. This is far from what happens, however, and the fantastic acting in the film makes for a thoroughly engrossing and surprising story. Vicky Cristina Barcelona seemed extremely realistic to me, and was evocative without incessantly driving a point home, as some of Allen's movies are wont to do. Even those who don't typically like Woody Allen's work should check this one out.
That line is pretty hot---- submitted by lisa on August 21, 2018, 10:46pm --- the one in which Scarlett sez to Javier "I'll come to your room, but you'll have to seduce me."
A funny work by Woody submitted by kayhan max najmabadi on March 22, 2019, 9:03pm The movie is light and drole
good submitted by yufamily on August 26, 2019, 7:52pm Scarlett Johansson is starting to shine in her performances
Interesting and fun submitted by crp on August 29, 2019, 11:15pm Interesting and fun; wasn’t entirely what I had expected
Perhaps one day... submitted by jibkidder on July 3, 2022, 11:06am ...we can agree to stop caring about Woody Allen's films. If you must watch his work, the library is good way in. At least then, you aren't earning him money.
