It is a time of both splendor and despair for the deeply divided French nation where the self-serving King Louis XIV enjoys the riches of the world while his people starve. Believing he is all-powerful, Louis fears no one -- except the one person who could bring an end to his absolute power: the man he condemned to wear an iron mask and imprisoned for life. But when the king's selfish excesses go too far, retired Musketeers Athos, Porthos and Aramis vow to free the mysterious prisoner who may be France's only hope for survival. Only one question remains: will their old comrade, the legendary d'Artagnan help them -- or destroy them?

Contents: Homme au masque de fer.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Wow submitted by fluting4ever on August 4, 2011, 1:15am Great pictures.

Iron Mask submitted by SBNB on June 26, 2012, 7:42pm The Man in the Iron Mask is a good movie based off of a book by Alexandre Dumas. There's some sword action, there's some romance, and there's some humor. All in all, it's entertaining and worth the time.

Misses the mark, unfortunately. submitted by Kikumatsu97 on July 27, 2015, 10:24am This story deserved NOT to be ruined by intense lighting, humor, and total cinematic manipulation that strays so far from the truth that it leaves nothing to be believed about it. And yet,in it's own right-I tend to review period flicks based off of more than just the historical accurateness. The wardrobe is stunning! The story is good, though not at all realistic. The acting? You've got an amazing cast here with all the expectation in the world, and I LOVE Gabriel Byrne and Gerard Depardieu and Jeremy Irons! They're great. Not a great part for Leo. It's just that this movie lacks the seriousness in filming that the plot requires. Even if you leave room for creative writing in this movie's (notice I don't use the term "film") aside, It's still a bit clean and bright for the actuality of how foul and deprave things were during the reign of Louis XIV of France, and I think including that in the filming process might have made it much better. Romantic and exciting though, and humorous at times.

Classic submitted by Lynne Aldrich on July 3, 2020, 8:38am Its an ok movie
