COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Cheesy...cool submitted by Michael Flynn on October 29, 2011, 10:38am I liked it. They recreated sets from famous scifi movies and just stuck them in there as if they were just on a low budget and reusing the set. I know I recognized the bar from Star Wars and a recreation of the fight scene in the Death Star air shaft. And if I was a better movie geek I could list many others. Everything felt familiar!

love it submitted by jszchen on July 31, 2012, 7:33pm I lovedthis sci-fi movie and then watchedthe wholeseries

WARNING: REVIEW CONTAINS SOME SPOILERS submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on August 6, 2013, 9:28pm In a sequel to the TV series "Firefly" (which one really has to watch in order to understand this movie), Joss Whedon tells the secret of the Alliance, the galaxy-wide government that has hunted River and Simon Tam and against which Malcolm and Zoe fought a failed war for independence. The movie, like the show, is a space western or space opera.

This movie contains some very, very disturbing parts, including horrible violence and cannibalism. The show has some funny parts, particularly its witty lines.

Those who love Joss Whedon's other work ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Angel," "Dollhouse," and "Avengers," to name but a few) will love "Serenity." Indeed, "Firefly" fans are quite dedicated to the show, even presenting an unofficial sequel at DragonCon 2010.

The main characters have a great deal of diversity. Of the nine main characters, two are African-American and one is Latina. Four of the main characters are women, and tough ones, too. However the movie also has a Jewish character who, out of greed, betrays his friends.

As a Joss Whedon fan, I can highly recommend all his work.

Must watch submitted by asopijw65 on August 17, 2014, 2:28am So happy that Serenity was made to sort of 'end' Firefly. Not the greatest ending in the world, but it's Joss Whedon afterall. I would highly recommend this to any Firefly fan.

Good submitted by zmclaugh on August 2, 2018, 5:47pm Nice that there's an ending for Firefly, but this is an odd sort of ending. A different tone.

Serenity submitted by lstorc on August 6, 2018, 12:41am A satisfactory ending with a different flow from the series

Good submitted by anacoluthon on August 17, 2018, 3:09am A decent ending to an amazing series. The plot was pretty rushed, though, and would have been better told over a full season.
