Great to listen to! submitted by llwalsh on July 1, 2014, 8:08am This was the first youth book by Carl Hiaasen that I had the pleasure of reading/listening to, and it did not disappoint! It's funny and gripping 'til the end! Great to listen to with the whole family on a road trip.

audiobook reader seems at odds with the setting submitted by camelsamba on July 31, 2017, 12:40pm On the one hand, I did not particularly enjoy Ed Asner's reading. He sounded too "New York" for a book set in Florida, plus his pacing was odd at times. However, I enjoyed the plot of this more than Chomp. I liked how the various storylines and people interconnected. As in Chomp, the cast includes a number of over-the-top unlikeable adults, but you also get some insight into their underlying motivations and personalities. If you can get past Asner's narration, it's an enjoyable story.

Scat submitted by SBNB on June 10, 2022, 10:58pm Coming into this book, I wasn't sure it would be worth my time. But within a couple chapters I was hooked and I finished it quickly. It's a great story with some twists and turns, mystery, illegal activity, and action, and it touches on family issues such as a parent doing a tour of duty in a combat zone and a parent choosing to abandon her family. It's a kids book, but I'm an adult and I really enjoyed it. I can't wait to read more books by this author.
