very unsatisfying submitted by hengw on June 5, 2009, 1:04pm As I was getting near the end of the last disc, I kept wondering whether there was one more disc that's missing from my copy, since the plot was apparently not near a resolution. There isn't. And the reader is left hanging. I won't say what the ending is, but it is very disappointing. What good is a mystery novel without a satisfactory explanation at the end? It makes the whole novel look like a smoke screen with nothing behind it. As a legal novel, it is not much of a success either. the characters follow some stereotypes. Insights into the legal processes are minimal. In this category, "In the Shadow of the Law" by Kermit Roosevelt is a much much better read.
I think John Grisham is not taking his readers very seriously in his latest work.

Fairly Good submitted by dahyatt on July 3, 2012, 1:06pm This was a pretty good book by John Grisham. It had a lot of what you expect from a Grisham novel but the ending seemes rushed and anticlimatic.

I liked it submitted by cmarie2004 on July 25, 2018, 9:14am It was interesting to listen to on my commute. It was not an "I have to know what happened next" type of book but it was entertaining and a little suspenseful.
