COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Over the top gore, stylized, interesting submitted by cherylo on August 2, 2011, 9:03pm Bloody to the point of caricature, this somewhat abridged version of Sondheim's play of the same name is an interesting version. The performances are uniformly great, if stylized at times, and I especially appreciated Sacha Baren Cohen (Of Borat fame) as a rival barber. For those into this sort of thing, you will love it, and if making a (sick) joke out of unbearable tragedy is not your thing, neither is this.

Sweeney Todd submitted by SBNB on June 21, 2019, 10:26am This was a weird, weird movie. I watched it once a long time ago, and I don’t need to watch it again.

Good, buy gory, musical submitted by Xris on June 29, 2019, 6:00pm It was a bit on the overly gory side, but Tim Burton does good films. I see what other people like in it. And I love the actors that are the main characters in this musical. Nice to hear them singing and doing a good job!

Sweeney Todd : the Demon Barber of Fleet Street submitted by lstorc on July 7, 2019, 11:11pm The vocals were atrocious. Watching it on mute with subtitles is the best way to watch it.

An unfortunate filming of a great musical. submitted by lisa on July 18, 2019, 5:02pm The musical, as originally produced, had humor and pathos. This film goes for weird too much. And I say that as a proud weirdo from way back.
