Osbourne Cox is a CIA analyst who quits his job after being demoted. He decides to write a memoir about his life in the CIA. His wife, Katie, wants a divorce and, based on the advice of her divorce lawyer, she downloads many of his personal and financial files onto a disc. Katie's lover is Treasury agent Harry Pfarrer. The disc eventually finds its way to Hardbodies, a workout gym. An employee of the gym, Chad Feldheimer obtains the disc and ascertains that it contains classified government information. Along with his fellow employee, Linda Litzke, he intends to use the disc to blackmail Osbourne. When blackmailing him fails, Linda decides to take the information to the Russian embassy. At the embassy, she hands the disc over to the Russians, promising that she will give them more information. Linda and Chad don't have any more information, so they decide to break into Cox's house. This brings about a series of events that no one forsees.
DVD, anamorphic widescreen (1.85:1); Dolby Digital 5.1 surround, DVD-9, single sided.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

meh submitted by manz on September 22, 2009, 11:26am Not my favorite Coen bros. film. I watched it twice. Just couldn't fall in love with it, as I badly wanted to. Oh well.

Definitely worthwhile submitted by Sonia on June 26, 2011, 7:47pm I don't like a lot of Coen brothers movies but this one is really good. There are lots of different plot lines occuring at the same time and suddenly they come together to create hilarious caos. I also like that this movie is set in the real world. This type of story could happen all the time and the general public wouldn't know otherwise.

Unique and good submitted by Ilyjtwya on July 17, 2012, 2:42am This movie has many plot lines, so you have to pay attention when you watch it. However, they all come together in a hilarious way. It is a bit of a shame that there probably are people as dumb in reality as Chad and Linda. This was also one of those movies which became funnier each time we watched it.

Nah. submitted by markwells on February 15, 2015, 8:18am I like most of the Coen brothers' stuff. But not this. I wanted to like it but.. sorry it didn't grab me at all. Grade C-.

good submitted by Jackie77 on July 29, 2015, 10:05pm After the second time watching it made more sense. Some women should not be made wives

Burn After Reading submitted by SBNB on July 9, 2016, 7:17pm With all the big names, I thought it would be better than it was. That said, it was watchable. We laughed a couple times.
