Pretty Good submitted by andy101 on June 25, 2013, 8:21pm This book is so-so. I took it out because I recognized the author's name; George McGovern was the Democratic nominee for president in 1972. McGovern moves through Lincoln's life quite quickly; Lincoln's first 21 years are covered in three pages. McGovern's writing style is objective and consistent; he lets Lincoln's extraordinary life rather than his commentary light the book up. I would recommend this book as a quick and easy biography. If you are looking for historical analysis or newly discovered insights on Lincoln's life, this is not the book for you.
