Delighted me submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on August 25, 2018, 5:52pm A really neat book that my sister recommended to me.

This is really about the ins and outs of family, and about the change and growth of one particular family over 15 or 20 or more years. One of the best parts of that dynamic is that characters clearly grew and developed over their own lives. Traits that showed up early shaped what choices they made two decades later. Sometimes (like in real life) they were hung up on events that happened in the past. They weren't always their own "best" selves, but that just added to the realism.

And perhaps best of all for me, while presuming that the "contract" between author and reader would be fulfilled and there would be a happy ending for everyone, I often had no idea how the story would turn out or how that ending might be reached. (And I won't tell you if it was, indeed, a happy ending for everyone. Do not assume if you read this book!)
