Delightful farce submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on July 23, 2017, 4:14pm Oh, hooray, hooray, Binchy is back! I didn't enjoy her last two books (_Night of Rain and Stars_ and _Whitethorn Woods_), but this one just hit all the right notes of what I loved best about previous books (_Tara Road_, _Evening Class_, _Quentin's_, etc.).

Binchy creates the most wonderful characters, with rich and detailed history and lives. She blends them together in natural ways, telling the stories of how people's lives intersect and influence each other. Characters from previous stories abound, but it's been a while since I read most of them and I didn't feel like I was missing much by not remembering their details.

My only gripe is that the book starts out firmly about Clara and the heart clinic, but then once all the main characters are introduced, it goes off into their individual stories for half the book before coming back to how they all meld through the clinic. I just wish the clinic had been slightly more present through the first half. But that was pretty minor. I was delighted by this one.
