good holiday read submitted by manz on March 30, 2013, 11:11am What a delightful set of short stories. Christmas eve in a small town during a blizzard makes for some interesting times for a group of teens. The three short stories end up intertwining some of the characters in a fun way. A good read if you're fans of these great YA authors, or just want to some holiday spirit books!

John Green AND Maureen Johnson!? submitted by jmb.mlis on August 31, 2014, 11:03pm Two of my fav authors get together on this one!

Heartwarming YA Holiday Read submitted by Meginator on August 22, 2020, 9:33pm This book consists of interconnected short stories by Maureen Johnson, John Green, and Lauren Myracle, each revolving around a romantic arc involving teenagers from the shared fictional town of Gracetown, North Carolina. I absolutely adored Maureen Johnson’s lead story, which effectively established the setting, introduced elements that would show up in the other parts of the book, and was completely charming in its own right. Her characters are easy to root for while feeling realistic, and the slapstick comedic elements are nicely balanced with the characters’ development. I absolutely loved it. John Green’s story relies too heavily on sexist tropes for my taste, and his feeble attempts to call attention to this don’t in any way absolve him of blame for relying on them in the first place, but it goes by quickly enough and has some amusing action scenes. Lauren Myracle’s concluding story is a surprising departure from the other two, focusing on the fallout from, rather than the beginning of, a romantic relationship. Though the character development at the story’s core didn’t feel entirely organic to me, I still enjoyed it and felt like she did a good job of wrapping everything up across the three stories. This book was surprisingly excellent and heartwarming all around, despite a bummer middle section, and I highly recommend it.
