I am also a fan of the first film. This movie was definitely made to go straight to DVD. It didn't add much to Ariel's backstory. Since this was a prequel of sorts, I was surprised that Ursula wasn't featured in the story since she use to live in the castle. Why was she banished? That would have many for an interesting backstory.
