Really Uneven submitted by Meginator on August 31, 2019, 11:29pm Now That’s What I Call Music albums are necessarily subject to uneven tendencies, as musical trends come and go at a rapid pace and monster singles occupy the charts well beyond the typical track’s much shorter lifespan. As a result, the series includes interstitial installments like this one, a bit of a fall back to Earth after two absolutely incredible compilations. This might be the weakest first-half lineup of any of the bunch so far, but a surprisingly robust rock resurgence in the later tracks quickly redeems the whole package. This isn’t essential listening by any means, but some solid songs lurk amid the forgettable ones here.
