Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have narrowly escaped from the colossal battle on the Burning Plains. With more adventure at hand, Eragon finds himself bound by a tangle of promises he may not be able to keep. When unrest claims the rebels and danger strikes from every corner, he must make choices that will take him across the Empire and beyond, choices that may lead to unimagined sacrifices.

Brilliant submitted by qfaro1 on June 25, 2011, 6:24pm I read this book in one night, then reread it.

Genius submitted by DBJC on June 29, 2011, 7:36pm I really should commend Christopher Paolini for his incredible writing. Even though it's long and VERY detailed, his writing is very good. I enjoyed this one the most.

Rereads submitted by bfreiband on July 8, 2011, 3:56pm Not all books are good enough to reread. Some are wonderful books, but you just can not get yourself to read it again. Maybe it starts out too slowly. Well, this book definitely does not start out slowly. I do not normally reread books, but I have reread this book and the rest of the books in the series four times apiece. Amazing book, amazing series. A must read for fantasy lovers.

the third book: submitted by KSB2013 on June 17, 2014, 8:51pm Great third book in the 4 book series. good for all ages and wonderful and magical.

Amazing! submitted by Ayaldia3600 on June 18, 2014, 11:37am The third book in the Inheritance Cycle. The story has developed very nicely, incoporating both Eragon and Roran's experiences. The history of the Riders is further explained.

Needed better editing submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on July 8, 2014, 8:20am Another fine book in the series, although I didn't realize that the series is a four-some (not a trilogy) until I was about 20 pages from the end. That was really disappointing.

I did feel like there were many scenes early on that didn't really drive the story forward. This one needed tighter editing, IMHO. I was amused by the way that 16-year-old Eragon was bored to tears with the politics of electing a new dwarf king, but had to stick with it because it was the responsibility of his role as Dragon Rider. Again, it was Roran's story that provided the action.

like, not love submitted by downing on June 18, 2016, 12:56pm I felt like it was a really long rip off of Lord of the Rings. I also didn't like most of the main/supporting characters. The ones I did really like died. But... I couldn't put it down. I got hardly anything done, because I was obsessed with reading it.

Amazing submitted by GabrielRaux on June 25, 2016, 8:12pm This book is a great novel with lots of amazing details and an intricate plot line. I recommend it to any fantasy lovers. This book really draws you into it, with the characters obstacles and hardships.

Amazing submitted by peterflorence on June 16, 2017, 1:46pm Amazing book about a boy and his dragon, and the adventures they go on! The 3rd in the Inheritance cycle

MEH submitted by sophia_2005 on August 1, 2017, 10:10am It was good... but not as good as the first. But then, in my opinion, none of the books were as good as the first one.

Complex submitted by ferielp on August 9, 2017, 12:00pm Really ties together a lot of the threads set up in the first two books. Sets up the ending really well.

amazing series submitted by Sabrina Carlson on July 20, 2018, 5:34pm this series is wonderful and this book is a great addition

Good book submitted by jasonc1177 on July 31, 2019, 7:57pm this book is great. Very interesting ~!

Brisingr submitted by amtorrey on July 19, 2022, 3:05pm I liked this book a lot but be warned, there are a lot of long paragraphs with pure description.

Great series submitted by Nehemiah9 on August 20, 2022, 4:01pm It's a long book but well worth it if you have the patience as you are rewarded with good payoff for sticking with it.
