Builds on Movie Success submitted by annecox on July 18, 2011, 10:07am This soundtrack is for the Broadway version of the 1989 Disney film. Many of the songs are directly from the movie. The new songs build on the same motifs and enrich the work as a whole, both in the music and building characters. I especially enjoyed "Her Voice" and "If Only".

Sherie Rene Scott submitted by andreahubert on July 6, 2012, 7:41am I really like Sherie Rene Scott so I listened to this soundtrack and ended up really enjoying it. This cast has amazing voices and is always fun to listen to.

Prefer the Film Soundtrack submitted by Meginator on July 6, 2020, 6:11pm This Broadway show is an interesting adaptation of the classic animated film, adding a few new musical numbers and fleshing out the story with more background information and detail. The vocal performances naturally have a slightly different style to them, and it’s always interesting to hear familiar songs interpreted in a slightly different context. I enjoyed Eric’s more active role in the story, and giving Scuttle his own song is a move of genius. However, I found Ursula’s major added number disappointing and out of character, as it contains none of the inherent darkness of “Poor Unfortunate Souls” and doesn’t seem to fit with the character. The album has enough good songs (and good additions) to pass the cut, but it isn’t Disney’s best adaptation.
