Two banished angels think they have found a loophole that will get them back into Heaven. The only problem is that they will be destroying existence in the process. In an effort to stop them, the overworked Voice of God taps cynical mortal Bethany to save the world by preventing the angels from reaching their unholy destination: New Jersey. Throw in two unlikely prophets named Jay and Silent Bob, a quickwitted yet little-known apostle and a sexy, former nurse with a case of writer's block, and its a race against time.

Must See submitted by semartin on July 30, 2013, 2:51pm Dogma is my favorite of all of Kevin Smith's movies. Though I wouldn't recommend it to those who are highly religious, this film is laugh out loud funny while giving interesting twists on the Catholic norm.

Great fun submitted by pk on August 6, 2018, 12:48pm I also love this Kevin Smith movie. As to seeing it if you are religious - I might disagree. At its irreverent heart, it is very much pro-God and pro-Christianity. There are some very real spiritual themes here. But if you can't stand the thought of God appearing on earth as a woman, there being a 13th apostle, twisting around some religious tradition, etc. then this movie is not for you. Lots of language in this, too, being a Keven Smith movie. But see it if only to see the great Alan Rickman as the Voice of God.

utterly moronic flick. Could not finish it. Imbeciles only, or kids under 8. submitted by Tassos on November 7, 2021, 8:56am Note: I am not religious at all and sure not a Catholic, so don't claim I was offended by this Worthless, idiotic flick, poor humor, poor plot, idiotic everything. Had to STOP watching it after the first half hour and will return it to the library just a day after I borrowed it.

Not a good director submitted by jibkidder on July 7, 2022, 11:20pm I feel like when this movie was in theaters, when I was a kid, it was the first clear display that Kevin Smith is not a good director. Clerks has a particular charm, and perhaps, if he hadn't become so celebrated, he could have made more movies that share its positive qualities. There is an episode of a podcast called Director's Cut where he interviews Herzog that supports my thesis that he is not smart.
