Tells the parallel stories of nine-year-old Carlitos and his mother, Rosario. In the hopes of providing a better life for her son, Rosario works illegally in the U.S. In Mexico, her mother cares for Carlitos. Unexpected circumstances drive both Rosario and Carlitos to embark on their own journeys in a desperate attempt to reunite. Along the way, mother and son face challenges and obstacles but never lose hope that they will one day be together again.

An Inspirational Film submitted by rleer24 on September 16, 2008, 1:50pm I saw this movie in theatres, and for anyone with an interest in issues related to immigration (or even those who simply like a good family story) this was a lovely movie.

Mother and son are separated by a political border and miles of geographical space. Rosario, wanting a better life for her son, works in the US. Carlitos, her son, finally sets out to join her though he only has a little information on how to get to her. The trials and troubles of mother and son move the viewer, making it easy to want a happy ending to a tale filled with so many moments of hope and then uncertainly, dreams and yet doubt.

This movie will touch more than just one of your emotions, and it really emphasizes the bonds of family, the need for perseverance and the belief that anything is possible if you are willing to try.

Under the Same Moon : La Misma Luna submitted by Varshini on July 27, 2019, 1:57pm I started watching this in my Spanish class, but we didn’t have enough time to finish it. I decided to borrow it from the library so I could enjoy the whole thing. Great movie, 5/5 stars.
