The Alexandria Ceremonial Police Orchestra arrives in Israel from Egypt for a cultural event. Once there, they find the expected delegation is not there to meet them. Arrangements to get to their destination of Petah Tiqva have not been taken care of either. They find their own ride and arrive instead at the remote town of Beit Hatikva. Stuck there until the next morning's bus, the band, lead by the repressed Tawfiq Zacharaya, gets help from the worldly lunch owner, Dina, who offers to put them up for the night. As the band settles in the best it can, each of the members attempts to get along with the natives in their own way. What follows is a special night of quiet happenings and confessions as the band makes its own impact on the town and the town on them.
DVD, region 1, widescreen (1.78:1) presentation; Dolby Digital.

Great funny film! submitted by mccarthy on January 9, 2011, 11:18pm Really enjoyed this classy comedy.

The Band’s Visit submitted by ccrose on August 2, 2019, 9:39pm Cross-cultural situation, sticky “least likely to work out” 24 hours: Egyptian Police Orchestra dropped off to play for a pro-Egypt village in Israel. But, they are dropped off in the wrong Israeli village. The anxiety sets in immediately but...villagers offer beds for the night, tiny connections form (trumpet player earnestly asks if anyone likes Chet Baker; a host remembers playing Rolling Stones and starts the whole table singing “Summertime”) and music-related tidbits cultivate deeper connections.
One pair, the old general and a gracious young woman, share how they both came to be alone. It’s not corny, there’s fun, like a roller rink disco/bar. It’s a good movie to watch for the balance of comedy with small dips into drama .pg13 is one curse word.
