SciFi for Reluctant Fans submitted by osbornk on July 12, 2011, 11:18am Philip Dick is categorized as a Science Fiction writer but I would classify this book as speculative fiction. Dick explores life in an alternate America in which the Allies lost World War II. Although the audiobook was released in 2008, the book was written in 1962. This adds another dimension to the alternate history as he envisions a different technological timeline as well; advanced rocketry and space travel but no cellphones. That was as mind-bending for this reader as the Axis victory.

Still pondering submitted by Moira A Tannenbaum on August 18, 2017, 1:20pm Having heard for years about this book, I had high hopes. Maybe I need a second reading (or to read the print book, since I listened to it on CD). I am still asking myself what it all meant. I agree with the writer of the review entitled "SciFi for Reluctant Fans" that the technology described in the book was mind-bending for readers at the time. One note is that if you speak German, you may be dismayed by the German accent and pronunciation the reader for this book. The Japanese accent seemed wonderful to me, and the voice for the character of Mr. Tagomi is by itself worth listening to the whole book on CD: it's that good.
