Artemis's mother has contracted a deadly disease -- and the only cure lies in the brain fluid of African lemurs. Unfortunately, Artemis himself was responsible for making the lemurs extinct five years ago. Now he must enlist the aid of his fairy friends to travel back in time and save them. Not only that, but he must face his deadliest foe yet...his younger self.

Great Read submitted by scong on October 14, 2008, 8:52pm This book was great! Though I'm wondering what happened to Minvera, and the plot was a little slow in developing. But it was witty, cunning, and filled with the twists and turns of time travel. In this book Artemis Fowl II goes back in time to save an exctinct lemur whos brain fluid is a cure to a deathly sickness which his mom acquired. Unfortunatly(and ironicaly) he was the one who killed the lemur. So he faces off with himself, Dr.Kronski, and an unknown force in a race for the exctinct lemur. I recommend this book to all science fiction, or fantasy readers.

awesome adition to the series submitted by brielle on November 30, 2008, 12:53pm think the same as 'good read'. I just hope it isn't the end of the series!(He could end it if he wanted too)

Well Made submitted by 0liviap0pp on June 25, 2011, 8:06am The Time Paradox is a well made book. Artemis' mother has a deadly disease, and the only cure is to extract brain fluid from an extinct lemur. Artemis must go back in time to face his younger self, since he was the one who made the lemur go extinct. This was a very good addition to the Artemis Fowl series.

Okay submitted by faiyafrower on June 25, 2011, 5:40pm I didn't especially like this book compared to the other books in the series, but it was still pretty good. After all, who can dislike Artemis Fowl?

good submitted by 15redwings on June 28, 2011, 9:05am good great awesome

Paradox submitted by Smiles on June 15, 2012, 12:42pm Artemis' mother has a deadly disease and the only cure lies in the brain fluid of the African Lemur- a creature Artemis killed when he was small. His only hope is to go back in time but will it really work?

Where Is Minerva? submitted by Commander Taffy on June 20, 2012, 7:40pm I really liked Minerva, but she sort of just disappears after The Last Colony. Other than the fact that she is missing the book is quite good.

Fantastic submitted by Memoria1224 on June 28, 2012, 8:22pm This book is really good. Artemis goes back in time to save his mother by getting brain fluid from an extinct lemur. Artemis killed the last lemur alive when he was younger.

Amazing! This review contains SPOILERS!!!! submitted by shalinigurl on July 3, 2012, 2:57pm If you truly want to understand the time paradox concept in depth then you will have to read a certain paragraph a couple times luckily I got it. (You will know what paragraph that is when you come across it). It truly is hilarious and quite cunning to think (spoiler alert) that if Artemis didn't go back in the past then his mother would have lived with no help! Truly a fantastic book!

An entertaining read submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on August 20, 2012, 11:16am Those who love both science fiction and fantasy will love the combination of the two genres in this book.
Although written for teens, adults will also enjoy all Eoin Culfer books. Culfer creates Artemis Fowl as a know-it-all super-smart ultra-rich kid who doesn't face the same limitations as us meer mortals, but this is in part to mock novels that really do create such characters in seriousness.
I love the tough Holly and her drive to solve the problems herself, no matter how small she is. I also find the centaur computer geek hilarious.

(By the way, one pronounces Eoin as "Ian.")

OK submitted by michael007 on July 1, 2013, 4:32pm It is a OK book.

Another Great Adventure of Artemis Fowl the Second submitted by Caroline Ham on June 30, 2014, 7:07pm This book -- as all the Artemis Fowl books -- was great. While time travel can be a daunting task for any author for fear of readers' confusion, Eoin Colfer nailed it. This book was not confusing at all and was very well written. The ironic reason for Artemis and friends to time travel and many other jokes add humor to this story, but the story is still as brilliant as all the others. I would definitely recommend this book to any science fiction and fantasy reader.

Funny submitted by SolaireFQ on August 27, 2016, 11:42am Not as good as the previous Artemis Fowl books, but still well worth reading.

Great submitted by zmclaugh on July 8, 2019, 7:33pm This is a great series and this book in particular plays with time in an interesting way.

The Time Paradox submitted by heapah on August 28, 2022, 11:24pm Not my favorite of the Artemis Fowl series. The time travel does add some interesting aspects to the storyline. And a lemur isn't a monkey.
