Sweet and Pretty, but Also Average submitted by CasualTim on May 22, 2010, 2:43pm "Saving Grace" uses marijuana as a source of some of its jokes and comedic situations, but it isn't a stoner film. It's a sweet-hearted, level-headed comedy that happens to have quite a large amount of pot in it. This is very much a UK movie, with the pastoral small village, pressingly eccentric old people, breathtaking, sweeping views, and a problem which - despite the potentially disastrous consequences - never seems very threatening, thanks mostly to the inevitable banding-together of the entire town in the interest of solving said problem in one of the weirder ways imaginable (ever seen "Waking Ned Devine?").

Everything about the film - the acting, the plot, the pace - is average, in a mostly positive way. Though the resolution is fairly obvious, the charm of the characters and the beautiful scenery make up for it. By far the only standout in the film, and what will make you glad you took the time, are the brief and increasingly hilarious scenes with the two shopkeeper ladies who love their 'tea.'
