COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Still going strong submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on July 15, 2017, 8:46pm Book 5 in the Temeraire series, and it's still going strong. This one is (for the first time since book 1) set back in Britain, and deals with the consequences of Temeraire and Laurence committing a treasonous act at the end of the previous story in order to right a wrong and save the world's dragons. I love that the author takes on the real and thorough consequences of this and doesn't give her characters an easy way out. England needs them, but that doesn't make any part of what happens simple or pleasant. Temeraire takes on leadership that was hinted at way back in the first book, and then struggles with the responsibility of it. There was probably more about actual battles than truly draws me, but Novik handles the topic with enough interest that it holds me anyway.
